Chapter 157
Chapter 157: How Much Helplessness Exists in This World (Part 1)
Dead silence reigned, broken only by the soft breathing of the crowd.
A faint red swelling quickly appeared on his cheek. Si Cang Qing looked up at the indifferent Cheng Tian Yang,
a hint of confusion in his eyes, and softly called out, "Yang..."
Clutching his fist tightly, Cheng Tian Yang turned away without another glance at him and strode out of
the Huan’ao Hall, not uttering a single word from start to finish.
Before Si Cang Qing could react, a figure flashed from the other side, a chilling aura approaching. He hurriedly
swung his hand to block the attack.
"Si Cang Qing!" Qi Shuangran roared in fury, his whip lashing out and tearing the curtains beside him. "I said I'd
take his life myself! Get out of my way!"
"Bi," Si Cang Qing blocked Qi Shuangran's path, speaking softly, "Save him."
"You!" Qi Shuangran was instantly enraged, raising his whip to strike.
Si Cang Qing didn't dodge. He knew Ran Shuangran would never let those who framed her get away with it,
but… no matter what, he had to save that person.
The whip didn't fall. Just as Feng Lan stepped in to block it, Qi Shuangran abruptly withdrew his whip, glared
fiercely at Si Cang Qing, and vanished from the room like a gust of wind.
The remaining people remained silent.
Si Cang Qing was momentarily bewildered. He didn't quite understand why they all hated Mo Qing Jue so
much… He had thought that before, it was out of concern for Mo Qing Jue's safety that he had ordered these
people to hunt down that person, so why now…?
Even though Feng Wufei's divination had said that Mo Qing Jue was his nemesis, he no longer cared, and he was
confident he could handle it. Why did these people still look at him with gritted teeth?! Even the gentlest of them,
Cheng Tian Bi, refused to offer to treat him; the most docile Feng Lan wouldn't even look him in the eye; and
the usually cheerful Qiu Ping Tian had a stern and cold expression.
"Bi…" Si Cang Qing was about to speak again, his urgency stemming from the fact that Mo Qing Jue simply
couldn't wait any longer!
“QingDi!” Qiu Ping Tian interrupted him, gazing silently at Si Cang Qing. “Why must you save him?
Mo Qing Jue’s death is the best outcome for him, for you, and for us… Why must you bring him back?”
“Qiu,” Si Cang Qing replied softly, “Back in Sishui, we were already husband and wife.”
The implication was clear. Just like Feng Lan, Qiu Ping Tian, Cheng Tian Bi, Cheng Tian Yang, and Qi Shuangran,
he wouldn’t let any of them die before his eyes, and he would give everything to save them.
In his heart, Mo Qing Jue was already his wife.
"Haha, you...you're husband and wife?" Qiu Ping Tian suddenly laughed, his eyes gentle as water. "More important
than all of us?"
Si Cang Qing was stunned. "No..."
"If not," Qiu Ping Tian said softly, "then bury Mo Qing Jue, in the name of the Imperial Concubine."
He could allow that person to divide Si Cang Qing's love, he could forget everything that person had done, but...
he wouldn't allow Si Cang Qing to be in any danger again.
Death...no one understood it better than him. He had personally experienced that despair at Tianwaitian; a few
months ago, he had once again fallen into that kind of panic...
Even though Mo Qing Jue was now Si Cang Qing's wife, he wouldn't allow someone who threatened
Si Cang Qing's life to live in this world.
Frowning slightly, Si Cang Qing stared at Qiu Ping Tian for a long while, then looked at the silent Cheng Tian Bi
and Feng Lan. After a long pause, he replied in a calm yet unyielding tone, “I will not give up on Mo.”
Seeing the group tremble, he thought for a moment and said, "If you are worried about the Dead Knot, I will be
fine."
Qiu Ping Tian's eyes widened suddenly, his fists clenched tightly, and he spoke in a deep voice, each word distinct,
"Brother Qing, you are too disappointing! Since that's the case, I have no right to stop you. Out of sight, out of
mind, I'll leave now!"
Watching them leave one after another, Si Cang Qing's gaze gradually darkened. He was still worried about
Mo Qing Jue, who was on the verge of death, and he couldn't rest easy about those who had left. Before he could
think any further, Feng Lan said softly, "Master, there are still some matters at Dongying Tower. I can't help here,
so I'll go down first..."
With that, without waiting for Si Cang Qing's reply, Feng Lan walked away.
Only Cheng Tian Bi remained in the room. He kept his eyes downcast, staring at the man's decaying face, his
expression indifferent, revealing no emotion.
Si Cang Qing rubbed his temples, snapping out of his reverie. Looking at Mo Qing Jue, who was as familiar as a
private person, his brows furrowed even more.
“The South Sea Jade Bed can save his life,” Cheng Tian Bi suddenly spoke before Si Cang Qing could ask again.
He said softly, “I might be able to remove the Duanqing Gu, but I can't break the curse on him. Removing the
Duanqing Gu now will only kill him outright…”
Hearing this, Si Cang Qing relaxed slightly. Fortunately, he had acquired the South Sea Jade Bed by chance
years ago, and now that his father's health had improved, it was no longer necessary.
But then Cheng Tian Bi's calm voice continued, “To save his life, we also need to find a cool, temperate place
to house his body…”
He slowly raised his eyes, gazing intently at Si Cang Qing. "You didn't want him to die, so I saved his life for
you; as for reviving him… I don't want him to come back to life, so… I'll be leaving now!"
"Bi!"
His steps faltered. Cheng Tian Bi sighed softly, not turning back to look at the man, but speaking in a low voice,
as if talking to himself: "Qing, you've broken everyone's hearts this time."
Including his own. But ultimately, he couldn't go against this man's wishes; he could only yield, saving
Mo Qing Jue's life first.
Cheng Tian Bi's sigh left Si Cang Qing stunned for a long time. But ultimately, Mo Qing Jue's health was
paramount. He immediately ordered someone to fetch the South Sea Jade Bed and carefully placed the man on it.
As for places with cool temperatures year-round, there truly was one such place: the Edu Hall of Wuya Temple.
Whenever natural disasters or man-made calamities struck, the emperor would go there to worship Buddha and
pray for the salvation of the world.
It took Si Cang Qing five or six hours to secretly arrange for Mo Qing Jue to be placed in the Edu Hall, where
he set up multiple layers of formations and left many experts to guard her.
By the time he left, it was already the early hours of the next day.
“Amitabha, benefactor, misfortune and fortune, calamity and tribulation, are but a thought away,” Si Cang Qing
encountered a smiling old monk as soon as he stepped out of the Edu Hall. It was the same master he had met
years ago. The monk slowly shook his head, stroking his long beard. “People all talk about fortune and misfortune,
but how can they know that misfortune is not fortune, and fortune is not misfortune? All attachments are nothing
but emptiness and reality.”
Si Cang Qing nodded slightly and walked away.
“Benefactor, you have a great affinity with Buddhism. If you are willing, Wuya Temple is still lacking an abbot.”
Hearing the voice behind him, Feng Xiang, standing behind Si Cang Qing, had a dark expression. This old monk
is truly unreliable!
"Your Majesty, His Majesty the East Empress left the palace this morning..."
"Your Majesty, Consort Qiu returned to his hometown to visit relatives and left not long ago..."
"Your Majesty, His Majesty the West Empress left the palace last night, saying... saying he went back to Hongdu!"
"Your Majesty, Consort Shuang did not return last night, and his whereabouts are still unknown..."
With a furrowed brow, Si Cang Qing arrived outside Biyue Palace and asked again the question Gan Cai had
repeated several times: "Where is Bi?"
"Your Majesty, Consort Bi is not yet at Biyue Palace..."
Before the other person could finish speaking, Si Cang Qing turned away impatiently, ready to leave, but then
heard the person say, “Her Highness Consort Bi should be in the North Medicinal Garden sorting herbs.”
Slightly surprised and faintly pleased, Si Cang Qing hurried towards the Northern Herb Garden—after hearing
the news that they had all left the palace and disappeared, he knew that this time they were all angry…
Although, Si Cang Qing was still confused and didn't quite understand.
"Qing?" Having just finished organizing the herbs and was about to rest, Cheng Tian Bi turned around and saw
the man standing quietly outside the door, seemingly waiting for him for quite some time. Smiling, he approached
and asked softly, "Are you… all done?"
Understanding the implication, Si Cang Qing nodded faintly, "Yes."
For a moment, they were silent.
Suddenly noticing a blade of grass clinging to the man's hair, Si Cang Qing gently brushed it away, then pulled
him into a soft embrace, whispering, "I'm sorry."
A pause ensued, Cheng Tian Bi sighed, and looked up into the man's cool eyes, which held his usual indifference.
He chuckled softly, "You say you're sorry, but do you know... where does this apology come from?"
Si Cang Qing remained indifferent. He didn't truly understand, only knowing that this time, they were angry and
heartbroken, far more than just because he had married someone else. Therefore, he still needed to express his
apology.
"You," a genuine smile involuntarily appeared on Cheng Tian Bi's lips as he looked at the man helplessly. When
had he learned to be like this...? He then took Si Cang Qing's hand and slowly walked into the small pavilion.
"Qing, do you know how everyone spent those three months you were missing?"
The two sat knee-to-knee. Cheng Tian Bi's tone was gentle as he asked again, "Do you know how important your
life and death were to us?"
"Do you know how disappointed we were when you casually said you didn't care about our near-death
experience?"
Si Cang Qing's lips moved several times, but he didn't know how to answer.
"Qing," Cheng Tian Bi said calmly, "if something had happened to you, everyone would have felt like they were
dying. But even that pain couldn't compare to you. During those three months you were missing, everyone held on,
convincing themselves and others, completely believing in you."
"Believed you would be safe, believed you couldn't bear to leave us… But, Qing, no matter how powerful you
are, you're still just a mortal! Think about it, your several brushes with death were mostly related to Mo Qing Jue…
With someone like him—your mortal peril, your nemesis—do you think any of us could tolerate his existence?”
“I understand your reasoning,” Cheng Tian Bi smiled slowly. "You just want to protect him, just like you would us.
Ultimately, I have no right to criticize you for this… But the person you cherish so much might take your life at
any moment… Qing is very capable, we understand that, you won't be swayed by fate or calamity, but knowing
is one thing, feeling is another."
"I ask you, if someone were my calamity, perhaps a family member as important to me as Yang, would you let
that person stay by my side because you believe I can protect myself?"
Si Cang Qing remained indifferent. He knew that if that were the case, even if Cheng Tian Bi pleaded, he would
use every means to eliminate that person!
“We are the same,” Cheng Tian Bi said softly, “The only difference is, he is also your…wife.”
“But the person we painstakingly tried to eliminate is so pampered by you, you've even forgotten our feelings…
Do you think Yang'er slapped you?”
They hadn't told this person about the three months of torment; their joy at his return was followed by news of
his impending marriage; then, disregarding the fact that he was the one destined to bring about his downfall, and
ignoring their vehement opposition, he insisted on saving him.
No one could endure months of panic, anger, and heartbreak.
“Bi…” Si Cang Qing seemed to understand suddenly, leaning forward and gently embracing him.
Following his movement into Si Cang Qing's arms, Cheng Tian Bi smiled softly, “Qing, don't worry. Actually,
after venting, everyone's emotions should be better! But they've all left, you should go find them!”
Otherwise, given their pride, they probably wouldn't have the face to come back themselves.
“And then there’s Mo Qing Jue…” Cheng Tian Bi sighed softly, “I’m currently helpless. Only after the person
who cast the curse dies can I help him get rid of the Duan qing Gu… However, I have some medicinal herbs that
can treat his external injuries first.”
In the end, he couldn’t go against Si Cang Qing’s wishes.
Since this person insisted on keeping Mo Qing Jue, and since this person was confident in dealing with the Death
Force, then he could only support and trust him. After a night, he had thought it through.
Presumably, the others felt the same way!
Because no one… truly wanted to leave Si Cang Qing.
