Chapter 162
Chapter 162: Autumn Falls on the Emerald Screen, a Serendipitous
Feeling (Part Three)
Perched halfway up the mountainside, Qiu Luo Manor was vast, with buildings towering all the way to
the summit. From the moment they reached the manor’s main gate, it took Si Cang Qing and his companions a
quarter of an hour to arrive outside the main hall.
The manor was sparsely populated. Along the way, only a few servants occasionally bowed respectfully.
The setting sun cast its last rays, the place secluded and quiet.
So their pace slowed, and Si Cang Qing leisurely began to admire the scenery. It was early summer, a time of
lush vegetation and vibrant flowers, and Qiu Luo Manor possessed a unique charm.
Hands intertwined, Qiu Ping Tian smiled softly, tilting his head to look at Si Cang Qing's serene profile. "Does
QingDi like it here?"
Si Cang Qing glanced at him indifferently and nodded slightly.
Behind them, two children of about sixteen or seventeen years old winked and occasionally whispered amongst
themselves.
"Sister...did you see? Brother Emperor and Big Brother were holding hands the whole time..."
"Tsk, I saw something even more...!"
"Which...which?"
"Shh, keep your voice down! Don't let Big Brother and the others hear..."
"Sister, hurry up and tell me! You're driving me crazy!"
"Hehe," her voice lowered to a whisper, "when we got to the manor gate, I saw Brother Emperor kiss Big Brother
on the lips...hehe, Big Brother was like a woman, holding him like that, not wanting to let go..."
"Ah? Ah? I..." "Why didn't I see it?! Sister, you didn't even tell me, that's so unfair!"
Suddenly hearing Qiu Pingfeng's strange cry, Qiu Ping Tian stopped and turned around, looking at his sister with
a strange expression. He frowned. "What are you two up to now?"
"Haha, big brother, don't think so badly of us!" Qiu Shuiyao replied playfully, pinching her younger brother hard
as she spoke. "We were just discussing the Emperor's... martial arts, right, second brother?"
"Ah, yes, yes!" Enduring the sudden pain, Qiu Pingfeng nodded in agreement with a tearful face.
Raising an eyebrow slightly, Qiu Ping Tian ignored them and pulled Si Cang Qing to continue walking. But at
that moment, he was suddenly lifted up, and the world spun before his eyes. When he came to his senses, he was
already in the middle of the courtyard, where he saw two figures, their movements constantly shifting and
changing, locked in fierce combat in mid-air.
"Brother Qing," Qiu Ping Tian cried out hastily, "That's Mother!"
Upon hearing this, Si Cang Qing immediately withdrew his palm, which was about to strike, and spun around to
dodge the opponent's sword energy. However, the opponent persisted, each move vicious and ruthless. Considering
the opponent's identity, he could only keep dodging.
The woman, full of energy, became even more enthusiastic. She swung her sword and shouted fiercely, "How
dare you harm my children! Take this!"
Qiu Shuiyao and her brother cheered from the sidelines, shouting at the top of their lungs, "Oh, Mother is so
powerful... Emperor brother, fight back quickly... Over here, over here..."
Chaos erupted. The manor was no longer as quiet as before. A crowd had suddenly appeared, gathering to watch,
pointing and whispering, all with the air of spectators enjoying a show.
Rubbing his forehead in frustration, Qiu Ping Tian—who knew no martial arts and whose younger brother and
sister were unreliable—could only stand by and watch helplessly, raising his voice in concern that his mother
might accidentally injure Si Cang Qing. Knowing his mother as he did, he was certain she wouldn’t stop until
she’d injured Si Cang Qing.
“Wow, Emperor Brother is so amazing—he dodged Mother’s Soul-Snatching Sword with such ease!”
“Ahem!”
“Of course! Emperor Brother is truly the best in the world! I’m definitely going to ask Emperor Brother to be
my master!”
“Mm-hmm!”
“Oh my, Big Brother looks so nervous! Haha, he really does look like a timid little wife!”
“Ahem!”
“Exactly, exactly… I was just saying…”
“Cough!”
“Who’s that? So annoying!” Qiu Shuiyao spoke impatiently. She was right in the middle of enjoying the show,
but someone kept disturbing her right next to her ear. “I was just saying…”
She turned her head and fell silent instantly. Qiu Shuiyao suddenly went limp, standing stiffly, not daring to move
a muscle.
“Wow, Big Sister, look…” After calling out for a while with no response, Qiu Pingfeng nudged the person next
to her. She immediately sensed something was wrong, turned her head, and her face went pale as she stammered,
“Father… Father…”
Over here, Qiu Ping Tian suddenly spotted his father. It had been many years since they’d last seen each other,
and now strands of silver hair had begun to appear at the temples. Looking at that face, still as stern and austere as
ever, he opened his mouth but remained silent for a long moment.
“What are you all doing here? Get back to work!”
At the estate master’s command, the servants who had been watching the commotion scattered like birds and
beasts. Qiu Yiwu, his face stern, watched the two men fighting. After a moment, he slowly turned his gaze to his
son and snorted, “At least you still recognize your family’s gate!”
Qiu Ping Tian’s expression, which had been softening, changed instantly upon hearing those words. He forced a
smile. “No matter how long I’ve been away from home, this son of yours would never dare to forget our family’s
gate.”
“That sounds good, but disobeying your parents’ words and staying away from home for so long is unfilial!
Marrying without permission and disregarding your parents’ wishes is even more insubordinate! How could I,
Qiu Yiwu, have sired such an unworthy son!”
“Father has long since formed an opinion of my character—why repeat it over and over?!” ” Qiu Ping Tian
replied nonchalantly, then turned his gaze toward a spot not far away. “Father, you’d better hurry and stop
Mother. After all, the person she’s about to strike is the Emperor of Canghuan… Surely you haven’t forgotten
the virtues of benevolence, righteousness, loyalty, and filial piety?”
Glaring fiercely at his son, Qiu Yiwu took a few steps forward and barked at the woman, “Ru Mei, stop this at
once!”
Hearing this, Ru Mei swung her sword once more and shouted at him, “Step aside, husband! Today I’m going to
teach this brat a lesson—how dare he lay a hand on my children!”
“How dare you!”
The sharp rebuke made the woman’s hand go limp, and with a clang, her sword fell to the ground.
Si Cang Qing retreated several feet before landing steadily.
“This humble student, Qiu Yiwu, pays his respects to His Majesty. Long live the Emperor! Long live the Emperor!
Long, long, long live the Emperor!”
The fighting ceased, and Qiu Yiwu strode to Si Cang Qing, kneeling to perform a grand salute. Upon seeing this,
the woman's eyes widened, and she glared fiercely at Si Cang Qing.
"Pfft..." Qiu Shuiyao and her brother, who had been standing obediently to the side, couldn't help but burst into
laughter.
The situation before him left Si Cang Qing momentarily speechless; he merely frowned slightly, observing
the family's varied expressions.
After a long silence, Qiu Ping Tian's mother, Ru Mei, spoke up in displeasure, "Boy, what kind of attitude is this?
Don't forget, it's your father-in-law kneeling before you!"
"Ru Mei!" Qiu Yiwu snapped, then said in a serious, stern voice, "Your Majesty, please forgive me. My wife has
offended you greatly due to my poor upbringing!"
"Pfft, hahaha!" Qiu Pingfeng laughed so hard he couldn't straighten up, supporting himself and his sister, pointing
a trembling finger at Qiu Yiwu, "Father, that's hilarious!"
Hearing this, Qiu Yiwu's old face immediately changed. Without thinking, he stood up and walked to the siblings,
saying, "Stand up straight!"
The siblings trembled, standing ramrod straight, habitually extending their left hands. Qiu Yiwu then pulled out a
ruler from his waist and struck each of them three times.
Yang Rumei's eyes showed heartache, but she dared not plead for mercy. Seeing her husband approach, she
fawned, "Husband, we have a distinguished guest visiting today. Let's quickly invite the Emperor over..."
"Give me your hand!"
Startled, Yang Rumei, like her children, obediently extended her hand, palm up, and received several more slaps.
Rolling his eyes, Qiu Ping Tian snorted, "Here we go again!"
“Qiu Ping Tian, don’t think that just because you’re a Imperial Consort now and have grown wings, you can boss
your old man around! Your parents will always be your parents!”
Putting away the ruler, Qiu Yiwu spoke sternly, then glanced at the others, "You lot too, even if you're all married
and have your own families, if you do something wrong, I'll still beat you!"
His gaze unconsciously lingered on Qiu Ping Tian and his son, and Si Cang Qing's brow twitched slightly…
The father and son looked remarkably alike, yet their personalities were completely different; one was rigid and
serious, the other outwardly gentle but inwardly unruly. However… both father and son seemed to like carrying
things on their waists, one a ruler, the other an abacus.
“His Majesty’s first visit to my humble abode has startled you; I am truly ashamed!”
Si Cang Qing pondered for a moment before finally speaking, “Fa…ther, it’s getting late. Let’s discuss this inside.”
The call made Qiu Yiwu's face stiffen. Qiu Ping Tian, however, smiled and grabbed Si Cang Qing's arm, saying,
"Yes, it's almost dark. My brother and I have been traveling for most of the day, and we're quite hungry and
thirsty!" Turning to Yang Rumei, she asked, "Mother, have you prepared any food?"
Yang Rumei was both angry and distressed. "You have the nerve to ask? I only hit you and scolded you a couple
of times, and you stormed off home, not coming back for ten years, and even sold yourself!"
Hearing this, Qiu Ping Tian laughed heartily, "If Mother is really so worried about her child, why did you..." "You
didn't even come to the capital for the wedding!"
"You still dare to say that! I raised a son, how could I send him away to someone else's family..."
"Mother, you can't say that. Does raising a daughter mean giving her away?"
"Alright, stop arguing!" The patriarch spoke, and everyone immediately fell silent. "Rumei, go tell the servants to
prepare quickly. We'll dine at Qiufeng Hall tonight... Your Majesty, please come this way with me!"
As he spoke, Qiu Yiwu glanced at Si Cang Qing and Qiu Ping Tian's clasped hands, his brow furrowing.
Dinner was filled with bickering, but Qiu Yiwu's reprimand quieted things down a bit. After eating and drinking
for most of the hour, the banquet finally ended.
"Brother, hug me..."
"Hug me, brother..."
The two chubby little children in front of him clung to Si Cang Qing as soon as they saw him, vying to be held
by him.
"Xiaoyuan, Xiaoye, stop fooling around!"
Si Cang Qing glanced calmly at the scolding Qiu Yiwu and said softly, "It's alright." He then bent down and
picked up one child in each arm.
"Hehe..."
The children giggled, the one on the left tugging at Si Cang Qing's hair and playing with it, while the one on
the right kissed his face, leaving sticky drool.
Seeing the two children playing happily together, Qiu Yiwu glanced sideways at Qiu Ping Tian and said, "Come
with me to the study!" before turning and leaving.
Qiu Ping Tian's brow twitched slightly. He watched his father's retreating figure, then looked at his mother beside
him and said, "Mother, chat with Qingdi for a bit, don't fight anymore!"
"Go away, what kind of tone is that!" Yang Rumei glared at him disapprovingly. "You really are like water spilled
from a cup after marriage! I've wasted over twenty years raising you!"
"Haha, eldest brother is water spilled from a cup..."
The siblings, always eager for chaos, laughed and crowded around Si Cang Qing.
Too lazy to deal with his mother and siblings, Qiu Ping Tian called out to Si Cang Qing and then left the Qiufeng
Hall.
"Hey, little emperor!" Seeing her husband and eldest son leave, Yang Rumei called out to Si Cang Qing, "You,
come with me, I have something to ask you too!"
